December
2, 2007:
The annual meeting and holiday party is scheduled
for Sunday, December 2, at 2:00 pm. This year we
will be enjoying the music of perennial favorites
The Carolines, an FOL tradition, as well as the
music of Men Macon Music. You will remember them
from our annual meeting in July. We’re forgoing a
speaker this year in favor of music, music, and more
music. The meeting/party will be held in the living
room at the new library. We promise to keep the
business part of the meeting short and sweet, so we
can have more time to enjoy fellowship between the
members, and let’s not forget the sweets on the
dessert table. We look forward to seeing all of our
Friends there.
January
31 – February 2, 2008:
The annual Friends of the Library Bookstore book
sale extravaganza. January 31st is a preview
evening for Friends members only, and the book sale
will be open to the general public on February 1st
and 2nd. You’ve all been very generous in your
book donations this year, and Margaret would like
everyone to know she’s got boxes and boxes of
terrific books that will be out there on the tables
this year. February is historically our coldest
month, so this is a good opportunity to stock up on
great reads for those cold winter nights.

Books
~ The Perfect Gift

|
| The
holidays are upon us, and nothing makes a better
gift than a seasonal book. At my house, we celebrate
Christmas, and I have a large collection of books
about that particular holiday. Part of our Christmas
tradition is to sit down on Christmas Eve and read
some of our favorite Christmas stories. If you are
looking for some terrific Christmas books to give as
gifts, here are some of my favorites:
For young children:
- The Last Straw
by Fredrick H. Thury
- A Wish to be a
Christmas Tree by Colleen Monroe
- The Legend of
the Candy Cane by Lori Walburg
- Auntie Claus by
Elise Primavera
For older children:
- Santa: My Life
& Times by Martin I. Green
- Christy:
Christmastime at Cutter Gap by Nancy LeSourd
- The Legend of
Holly Claus by Brittney Ryan
My favorite adult
Christmas read:
Skipping Christmas
by John Grisham
(makes me laugh out loud every year)
No matter what
holiday you celebrate at your house, books are the
perfect gift.
